Functions

1. Ensuring that the legislation of the Act under the Cooperatives Development Unit is administered, enforced and complied with;

2. Encouraging and promoting the development of the cooperatives to become a strong and organized cooperative sector;

3. Reviewing the management of accounts and preparing a report of the views from the Registrar of Cooperatives on the audited accounts;

4. Identifying and conducting courses, training, workshops and seminars that are appropriate and based on the cooperative values and principles;

5. Monitoring, supervising and controlling the cooperatives by ensuring compliance to the Co-Operative Societies Act (Chapter 84), the principles and values of cooperatives; and

6. Provide advisory services to cooperatives based on the Co-Operative Societies Act (Chapter 84), Regulations and Bylaws.

Fungsi

1. Memastikan perundangan Akta di bawah UPK ditadbirkan, dikuatkuasakan dan dipatuhi;

2. Menggalak dan mempromosi gerakan koperasi untuk menjadi sektor koperasi yang kukuh dan teratur;

3. Merebiu akaun pengurusan (management of accounts) dan penyediaan laporan pandangan Pendaftar Koperasi-Koperasi ke atas akaun-akaun yang diaudit;

4. Mengenalpasti dan menjalankan kursus, latihan, bengkel dan seminar yang bersesuaian dan berteraskan kepada nilai dan prinsip koperasi;

5. Memantau, menyelia dan mengawal koperasi-koperasi dengan memastikan pematuhan kepada Akta Syarikat Kerjasama (Penggal 84), prinsip dan nilai-nilai koperasi; dan

6. Memberi khidmat nasihat kepada koperasi-koperasi berpandukan kepada Akta Syarikat Kerjasama (Penggal 84), Peraturan dan Undang-Undang Kecil.
